Employers can submit 2018 foreign worker projections from 1 Oct.

Projection of expatriates for the year 2018 in Malaysia opens on 1 October 2017, according to the latest advisory by Malaysia's Expatriate Services Division (ESD - Bahagian Khidmat Ekspatriat).

In Malaysia, foreign knowledge worker projections must be approved in advance before companies can apply for work passes.

Companies successfully registered with ESD may apply for projection of expatriates for Employment Pass and Professional Visit Pass effective 1 October 2017.

Employers may follow the following steps to apply for the projection:

  1. Please login to your account and click Applications > Projection (located at Setting tab on left column of the screen)
  2. Select Projection Year > + Request New Projection.

ESD has confirmed that all unutilised projection approved for year 2017 will not be carried over to year 2018. Employers must note that that the decision for their projection request will be made within 5-10 working days.
